The Spanish astronomical community now has access to PANIC, the first wide-field infrared camera available on a European telescope. Numerous scientific cases and new projects will benefit from its wide field of view and versatile filter set, from extragalactic astronomy to Solar System studies. PANIC is an ideal instrument for conducting large surveys, studying star formation and gamma-ray bursts, and searching for very distant quasars.
