Spanish-German Astronomical Centre

The Spanish-German Astronomical Centre of Calar Alto (CAHA) is operated jointly by the Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie (MPIA) in Heidelberg, Germany, and the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (CSIC) in Granada, Spain.
The CAHA is located in the Sierra de Los Filabres (Almería, Andalucía, Southern Spain) about 50 km. from the capital.
Calar Alto provides three telescopes with apertures of 1.23 m, 2.2 m and 3.5 m and one Schmidt telescope.
Currently, only the two larger telescopes (2,2 m. and 3,5 m.) are available for researchers, through a joint Spanish-German time allocation committee.
