Spanish Astronomical Centre in Andalusia
The Spanish Astronomical Centre in Andalusia in Calar Alto (CAHA) is located in Sierra de Los Filabres (North Almería, Andalusia) about 50 km from Almería. CAHA is operated jointly by Junta de Andalucía and Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (CSIC) in Granada, Spain.
Calar Alto provides three telescopes with apertures of 1.23 m, 2.2 m and 3.5 m and one Schmidt telescope. The two larger telescopes (2.2 m and 3.5 m) are available to the Spanish astronomical researchers through a time allocation committee. There is also a 1.5m telescope at CAHA, which is operated by Observatorio de Madrid.
