After three years of development, CAFE has been finished. CAFE, the Calar Alto Fiber-fed Echelle spectrograph is a single fiber Echelle spectrograph that reach a resolution of ~70000, covering the wavelength range between 3960-9500 AA.
CAFE was designed to replace the old Echelle spectrograph at the 2.2m telescope (FOCES), increasing the stability and performance.
The instrument has passed the tests in the Lab, and saw its first light the 16th of May 2011. After a period of commissioning we are confident of its performance and characteristics.
The observatory has decided to offer it for the upcoming semester, 2012A.
