{"id":10134,"date":"2020-08-06T12:30:13","date_gmt":"2020-08-06T12:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riastronomia.es\/eso-anuncia-la-suspension-de-la-convocatoria-de-propuestas-para-el-periodo-107\/"},"modified":"2022-05-15T20:00:43","modified_gmt":"2022-05-15T20:00:43","slug":"eso-anuncia-la-suspension-de-la-convocatoria-de-propuestas-para-el-periodo-107","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riastronomia.es\/en\/eso-anuncia-la-suspension-de-la-convocatoria-de-propuestas-para-el-periodo-107\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspension of ESO P107 Call for Proposals Confirmed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-1 nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\" style=\"--awb-border-radius-top-left:0px;--awb-border-radius-top-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-left:0px;--awb-flex-wrap:wrap;\" ><div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row\"><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-0 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-one-full fusion-column-first fusion-column-last\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-1\"><p>The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the La Silla Paranal Observatory has resulted in the loss of virtually all the observing time allocated in Period 105 (April-September 2020), and the timescale for a full resumption of science operations remains unclear at the moment due to the uncertain evolution of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Following the <a href=\"https:\/\/eso.org\/sci\/publications\/announcements\/sciann17308.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Special Announcement<\/a> issued on 24 July and the finalization of the time allocation process for Period 106 (October 2020-March 2021), ESO has completed an in-depth analysis of the detrimental effects that the loss of the observing time will have on the commitments made for Large Programmes and other high-priority programmes in both Periods 105 and 106, its foreseen impact on the science time expected to be available in the forthcoming Period 106, and the amount of time that will be required for technical work to be rescheduled once the observatory resumes normal operations.
